What are mobile batch plants?

The mobile batch plant is a portable, productive, reliable, and cost effective piece of equipment used to produce batches of concrete at most any location. Portable plants are the best choice for temporary site projects or locations where the equipment height is a factor due to zoning or other municipal regulations. Project volume requirements often dictate the production amount and speed, but some mobile batch plants are capable of producing up to 350 YD³ Per Hour.

Because it must travel as one freight load, a mobile batch plant’s heavy-duty truss will contain an aggregate storage bin, aggregate and cement scales, conveyors, cement storage silos, electrical controls, walkways, air compressors, and a dust control system. Additional cement storage silos and aggregate conveyors can be added to increase production capacity. Some mobile batch plant models can be direct charged from a front-end loader. Automated control systems allow for efficient and specific concrete mix ratios by combining precise quantities of aggregate materials, water, and cement mixtures required for the project.

The batching plant can produce dry batch concrete which is a combination of concrete ingredients and mixed in a truck with water on the way to a project, or wet batch concrete is a combination of concrete ingredients and water into a paving mixer at the site of the batch plant and then discharged into a truck for transport.

The mobile batch plant was invented in 1956 by Mr. Vince Hagan and was patented in 1966 (U.S. patent #3,251,484) as a convenient alternative to stationary batch plants that cannot be moved easily. The Vince Hagan Company produces the #1 selling mobile plant in the US market.
